Ducati dual rear axle?

My wife made us an instagram account so of course I look at vans, conversions, etc.

I saw what appears to be a Ducati dual rear axle van / bus, but I am not 100% certain that this is the mfg.

Yes, dual rear axles - not dual wheels on one axle like a medium duty truck.

Anyone seen these or know anything about them?

You can even get Sprinters with Tandem, or more commonly referred to as 'Tag', axles....

Tandem axles are very popular for larger MH's in UK and Europe and you see a lot of them on the road.

Looks like the Fiat is still 6 wheels. Is that the case with the MB tag axle? I think 40' diesel pushers here with tag axles have duallies on the drive axle and singles on the tag axle.

Yes, it was kind of like that.

2 rear axles, single tire on each axle.

Body was a mini bus - sort of like you would see at an airport parking place.

13 inch tires - hopefully that isn't the actual tire diameter?

Interesting.

I know that one reason for the lack of popularity of 3 axle setups in the US is that they tend to get taxed higher and subject to more regulations than 2 axle vans.

As an example, I am pretty sure that on major highways in CA, a 2 axle vehicle has a speed limit of 70-75 mph, and a 3 axle is limited to 55 mph.

It is a poorly conceived law as many times vehicles would be safer if they had the weight more distributed.
