Default How to open gearbox casing?

Hi all, I'm really hoping some one on here can help . I am in the UK , I have a 2006 Sprinter with 6 speed triptronic gearbox ( sprint shift). I have had a clunking when the lower gears are changing so I have decided to have the gearbox out. It is stripped down, to the naked case, and on the bench. The input shaft has a bit of a wiggle on is , so at this point I am assuming bearings.

Trouble is I can't get the case apart. I have removed everything obvious but something won't let it open more than a cm. I don't want to be forcing it open I don't have enough information.

You might check in the Australian sub section. There was a service manual posted for the Sprintshift.
