I was able to order one late last week from Rackattack online with free shipping no tax. $600 for the 8.5 is a great deal. They have since made it an in store purchase only.

Thule is having their 20% off sale at retailers right now so perfect time to jump on this awning...

There are different versions of the Omnistor available, it appears this is the flat-mount version:

I'm curious how the latter is mounted. You can tell by the angle of the crank mechanism that the mounting angle is significantly different.

From reviewing the information on the Thule website, it appears the only difference between the "rack mount" and "flat mount" versions it that the flat mount comes packaged with flat mount brackets that would likely be useless if you have an older Sprinter with rain-gutters, as you will need brackets that clips over the gutter anyway... so you can save a few $$$ and buy the rack mount model.

I found this part number through Thule's spare parts catalogue.

I wonder if the awning cases are the same between the two. The awning in the lower picture looks like it's turned 70-degrees or more, which makes me think the awning projection would be entirely different.

I would definitely prefer a Sprinter specific angled mount.

Does anyone have pictures of the mounting location of a direct mount or rack mount version of this? Iím interested but would need to fabricate a custom mount adapter because the solar array is using the current mounts.

Not a lot of info, but it still answers a few questions...

As I suspected, the Sprinter-specific mounting system uses a completely different awning, it's the Omnistor 6200, not the 4900 that is currently available here in the States. The mount looks somewhat similar to the Fiamma:

Thule part number 308073 for NCV3's. It's apparently a 3-piece bracket like the Fiamma but I haven't seen details on how long they are or if they also have specific mounting locations. It's important for those of us that are using the factory roof track for solar, because my passenger-side forward solar foot is precisely where the Fiamma bracket needs to sit. The flat-upright mounted one might be my only option, even if it doesn't look well integrated.

I just installed this today, looks killer and was super easy. As mentioned before I ordered the Sliders https://www.sprinterstore.com/produc...-sprinter-van/ 6 total, for the OEM roof rails from the Sprinter Store. I had to make the hole in the Thule Adapter bracket a bit bigger but it was a cinch. Just buy the Thule adapter and the rack mount Awning and you are golden!
