Default Recommended Image Hosting Sites

A suggestion for the mods:

Can we steer people away from hosting their pictures on photobucket? The site has gotten so loaded down with mandatory ads that pictures are almost un-viewable. I know personally, i avoid clicking on links to photobucket simply because it's such a headache.

I don't think a lot of forum members realize there are better alternatives out there like imgur, picasa, flickr, etc.

Can we get a sticky somewhere useful in the fourm which recommends sites to use?

Thanks

Or store them here if there is enough storage and not any extra cost for the moderator. Nothing more frustrating than clicking a link and the account is no longer active or they make you have an account to view.

Ditto, links life tends to be short. I use Google for sharing photos but keep up with maintenance regularly.

I just noticed that this is your second post (and your third on this forum) on the same topic, do you have some personal grudges against the Photobucket company?

You can add embedded images to this site. But they can't be huge (my main complaint about off-site hosted images). I resize all my photos to 800x600 and they upload to this site with no problems.

The process starts with the little paper clip icon above the typing area. You have to click the "Go Advanced" button to see the paper clip icon. It's not on on the "Quick Reply" posting area.

Being that I'm getting older, and not keeping up with technology, I have learned a few basic things that work for me.

Some of those things, with some added tips from other members , are here.

Still can`t make it work .

On other forums I just add [IMG] link [/IMG] or copy the IMG link on photo bucket and it embeds .

Here it just seams to cancel out the img code and make a clicky link ?

Frequently the photobucket-like links are to a page, not an image.
The IMG tags only handle the various image filetypes (.gif, .jpg, etc)

Can you provide an example of a real link that doesn't work (since you're obviously adept at the NOPARSE tag )
