When i posted my YouTube links, i was very lazy. I simply put them in-line with the message *without any URL tags*
(i let the forum fill them in automagically)
So i'll try that: here is an insertion, with no blank line, WITH the URL tags:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RICBu_P8JWI
(the text appearing here seems to have no underlining issues)
Here is the same insertion, no blank line, WITHOUT the URL tags:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RICBu_P8JWI
Now a URL to "fix" the issue:
https://youtu.be/RICBu_P8JWI (if it happened)
OHHHH.... the above two YouTube address both still have the https: protocol descriptor.
If i change it down to the "http:" version, the underlining bug returns: (no URL tags)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RICBu_P8JWI
Now a URL to "fix" the issue:
https://youtu.be/RICBu_P8JWI (if it happened)
Here's WITH URL tags, but removing the "s" from the protocol:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RICBu_P8JWI
Now a URL to "fix" the issue:
https://youtu.be/RICBu_P8JWI (if it happened)
I get the impression that the manual insertion of (at least) the trailing [ / URL is what's fixing it.
Perhaps the "automagical" embedding isn't getting the closing /URL ???
(i'll check by Editing this posting and looking for it)(see "OOHHHH" above added after that)
So the "new" behavior is: if you have "https" it will usually NOT underline the subsequent text.
If you have "http:" it WILL underline the subsequent text.
Having the [ / URL following the insertion seems to help.
There are two flavors of that... one is to use the paperclip icon... which inserts the full URL twice ... once as an argument to the URL tag (as URL="blahblahblah" ) and then once again between the closing and opening square brackets ]here[
The presence/absence of a blank line just before the video link seems to have no effect.
