Trailer light harness, splice under van or at taillight

Cavah

2002 Hymer RV, 2500 chassis
I’ll be wiring my trailer lights powered module.

On my many E320 wagons, I always spliced at the tail light......

Thinking of doing the same on my 2003 passenger.

I’ve read somewhere here that indicated the color code for the wires..... can’t seem to find it again.

Can anyone point me in the righteous direction ?

Thanks,

John

For my 2004 I took the time and effort to install the trailer light wiring and module into the driver side rear tail light assembly area. For the 2006 I wised up and just mounted the completely weatherproof powered trailer light module under the van near the spare tire. The 2006 install went much more smoothly. For one thing the opposite side turn signal wire didn't need to be brought over to side where the module is installed/wired. When the module is installed underneath all the wires needed were right there in the area of the spare tire. I would do the 2006 method again.

Some detail is here including wire colors/function.

He’s just this guy, you know?
I did my wiring inside the van, splicing into the taillight wiring by the harnesses and mounted my controller on the rear pillar.
