Thermal expansion forces are huge and if you not provide for movement something will give and in this case the weakest link is HDPE. It will either buckle (right Dave) or holes will get elongated and threads will not hold. Here are a few ideas:
- Make sure that hole in the bracket is larger than the screw and use plastic washer between screw head and the bracket
- Flip the bracket 180 degree and use long screw allowing the screw to tilt
- Use screws close to the middle of the countertop and VHB tape.
- Use shoulder screws to allow bracket to rotate against the 1010 profile http://www.mcmaster.com/#shoulder-screws/=y56fop
Personally, I would repeat through button head screws, easy to remove later for modification or repair.
