Big day for the little gray box
So this past week I treated her to the full monte. Engine fluids and filters, fuel filter, Trans fluid and filter, Rear diff fluid, Belts.
I know the trans was not due but I'm running service on that more than recommended. I feel it is one of the most stressed parts of these conversions running near GVW all the time. I'll probably do it even sooner the next time.
I figured this would be a good time to recap repairs over my ownership. I know Dave had a couple of issues early in the vans life. I believe a turbo hose? and trouble with the factory Espar. I think those items were corrected under warranty. The only thing they didn't fix were his shorts after dropping him to 35 mph in the fast lane of a busy north bay freeway
So in the last 44,000 over four years I have had three CEL's and no limp home.
Light number one was for a glo plug module $197 installed
Light number two at about 70,xxx miles was EGR-EGT sensor. Tested fine, code cleared. $70
Light number three was the same code but didn't return until 98,000 miles.
Diagnose and replace sensor $204
The only other repair was a squeeeeling drive shaft carrier bearing. R&R $385
Total
Repairs $1,020
I've done tires, brakes and shocks but those are consumables that would be spent on any vehicle. Regular service is a little more expensive on a sprinter but still there on whatever you drive
The van is running great, engine, trans and diff have no leaks, weeps or drips and I think is ready to go. Just got back from a 2,500 mile loop over three weeks and an taking off again on Sunday
Cheers
