Well, the problem is, that market for gravel road campers is only so small and they realize that.

They have to look further down the production line in a year or two when all the people who could have bought a 2wd instead of a 2wd clearance revel do that instead.

I think they will find that their market isn't quite what they aimed for.
They thought they were aiming for 20-30 somethings with bikes and kayaks.
What they are getting is old people (Like me......66 and not getting younger) who still want to get out there.
But aren't going to try to scramble an 8000LB van over rocks or sink it in sand.

I need 4x4 just to get in and out of my driveway in the Winter, and I like to travel year round. Lots of dirt roads, most of them "Cadillac roads". (My definition.....A road a Cadillac could get through, though not necessarily completely intact).

Back when Honda brought out the Element, they thought the market was 25 year olds. They didn't sell many to folks under 45.

Would I pay more for a Revel with armor, or relocated tanks/batteries? Maybe. But everything is a compromise with these vehicles. What you plan to do with yours is different from the mass market that Winnebago is mining.

I had the RIP done by Agile Off-Road and larger tires installed, which increased the ground clearance by at least 3". Agile also relocated the diesel exhaust and heater system exhaust out of harms way. I've done a bit of 4WD low range driving with it and have had no clearance issues.

I am literally the market they are missing. I would have bought a revel, but instead built my own, and sold it for the same price as a revel.

If they can fix the ground clearance issues, the market for them will open up hugely.
