Not certain which unit you have but in my RS I have not had a problem in the generator. I did have an issue inside two winters ago. This past winter I bought a box of mothballs and put them in two plastic bags. I put the bags in the engine compartment near the front down low. I also put four bait traps outside, one near each wheel. The traps are the type with a small opening that a dog or cat cannot get into. I did not have any problem this past winter and believe these things helped. The issue I had previously was in the same storage location. Hope this helps
