Source of vent fan noise when plugged into the grid

Does anyone know what the vent fan that runs constantly when the Westfalia is plugged into the grid? It is located in the passenger side rear corner, under the van floor. I am hoping that this is a problem that can be fixed. The fan is noisy, and I'd hate to have to keep listening to it every time I am plugged into electrical power.

Thank you for any and all information.

Hello Marechal -

Check out the following posts for info on the shore power cooling fan:

The above post explains why the cooling fan is running when plugged into shore power. It also says that you can turn off the 20amp circuit breaker to turn off the cooling fan (and A/C) but still leave all other 110V circuits working. I have not tried this myself but I believe the info in the post above came direct from a Westfalia employee.

This second post provides some of the history that lead Westfalia to add the cooling fan. Basically, when the larger A/C was installed they needed to provide a way to cool the A/C -> D/C converter.

I found both of the above by doing a search for "cooling".
