I tried, did not work. My DAD is kept at Paul's Transmission. He also has the code book. His shop is in Baker City, OR 97814. His address is 2540 Cedar st, just off of I 84, 541.523.6923. anyone is welcome to post that, I cannot make the link work. It may be my crappy laptop or I am too stupid to make the crappy laptop work.

Missouri/Kansas border was looking like a Sprinter-free zone. Not anymore.

This is a great post and idea THANKS!!!!!!! I just paid $2,300 to install a PCU. I don't have a DAD or MOM related to my Sprinter right now and would appreciate any info on how and what scan tool I can buy. I placed my location on the map. All I can share right now is my driveway and tools. Any advice pointing me towards a scan tool is greatly appreciated. bromo911@gmail.com 5403926555

I've added myself, despite not having a DAD, since I see a lot of others on the map who don't have DADs. Might it be a good idea to have different color pins for people who have DADs (or other scanners), and for those of us who are willing to help but don't have DADs? It would make it easier for people to find what they are looking for.

Keith, I just set the map up. I really have no idea how it works! If there's something I can do to make the pins different colors, let me know. I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff!

If you (or anyone else) is in edit mode and select a person (by clicking on their name in the left side pane or clicking on their pin on the map) a window pops up to edit their data. In that window, in the upper right, is a box with the pin image. Clicking on that brings up a selector that can be used to change the image used for their pin.

I'd suggest something like red pins for people with DADs, or scanners with equivalent functionality (sounds like CarSoft or Autoenginuity w/the MB addon), maybe yellow pins for people with less functional scanners, like a normal OBDII code puller, and blue for folk who have neither but are willing to offer their experience and/or other tools.

Or does anyone have a better idea for color coding? The colors we have to choose from are blue, red, green, cyan, purple, and magenta. If there is a significant difference between the scanners, we could do each scanner a different color, but that might not be worth the extra complication.

Once we have a color code, we should edit the description at the top of the left hand pane to tell the color code, and then either people can go and change their own pins, or someone can just go through and update them all. I'm willing to do it, but my brother-in-law and his family are arriving tonight for a 2 week visit, so I might not be able to get to it right away.

So it's something that anyone can do? iirc, I made it so anyone can edit it. I'm pretty busy myself right now, so if anyone else wants to do it, feel free. Or if everyone wants to do themselves, then I'm cool with that, too.
A GDE scanner fits in between the Red and Yellow categories. It fully communicates with Sprinters but only gives codes. It doesn't have the ability to code injectors or do tests or reset the tranny like the Red group can.
So how's this look to everyone?
Red= DAD or Carsoft or equivalent owner (close to or equal to dealer level scanner)
Green=GDE (Green Diesel Engineering) scanner
Yellow= basic generic code scanner
Blue= no scanner but willing to help

I just tried to edit mine to red, but it will not let me. The "Edit Details" option is grayed out. I'll play around with it a bit. Maybe I can figure it out.

edit: Figured it out. I wasn't logged in. Mine is now changed to red.

Sorry for my ignorance but what is a DAD, I have a small sears ODB reader and a Scan Gauge 2 but would be interested in any thing that enhances the Sprinter ownership thing. Mine is a 2006 standard roof 144 cargo van with 345,000 miles. I really like it but my big gripe is that it is a pain to get serviced and the people act like they are doing me a big expensive favor whatever they do. I also dislike feeling I am at their mercy. I've always been a hands on type but the newer vehicles are getting less and less user friendly. Thanks for any info. Skip Keith Knotts Island NC
