Default icarsoft mb 2 scanner message

Hello
I bought a 2007 lwb sprinter campervan about 18 months ago. I recently got a scanner to turn off the engine warning light which I'm sure came on because I pressed the accelerator on start up.
Anyway playing with the scanner I checked the actual sensor values and for the coolant level sensor the message I got was NO.
It sounds negative but what does it mean. Is it abbreviation for NOrmal.

Thanks for any help

Ps I'm based in UK and I'm new to forums so please excuse any transgressions.

Is your 2007 a T1N or an NCV3?

To help in case you aren't sure, T1N's have one long vent on the bonnet whereas NCV3's have two smaller vents.

Hi Its a 2007 313 cdi, 2.1 litre. It's a uk/ European van and I'm not sure what the nearest US equivalent is.

OK Cheers for that.

I'm not sure if this applies to an NCV3 but certainly on a T1N if you rotate and unlock the sensor in the header tank and then raise it between 1/4" and 1/2" out of the tank the light should illuminate. Any further and the light goes off again!

Try something similar on your NCV3 and see what happens, it may be easier with a helper to watch the dash. And do be aware there may be a delay between the float switch operating and the light coming on (to prevent flashing when cornering or braking, etc.).

You should see the status on your MBII change when the switch operates if all is OK.

Hi Thanks for the reply. I've looked into this and found another way to check the sensor. Remove the coolant tank cap and use something suitable to push the floating magnet down. I held the magnet down while I went to check the dashboard.
What I'm curious to know is the meaning of the message ' NO' from the scanner for this coolant level sensor but the sensor works so that's the main thing.
Cheers

Did the scanner message change?

When I first used the scanner I got a 'NO' message/report. This spooked me a bit so I siphoned off most of the coolant from the tank but couldn't seem to trigger a warning light on the dash. Same thing with the washer fluid - I couldn't get the warning light to show. Anyway I got 2 new sensors, put them in and they work.
The message is still 'NO' so at some point ill re-check the sensors I took out to see if they really were faulty. I'm happy to have new sensors in though, for the small cost. The van I have has 3 years missing MOT - but that's another (cautionary) tale.
Thanks for your interest.
