I've had a look around the forum for some info on sizing a voltage sensitive relay but I seem to have come away more confused.
My plan is to buy around 220Ah of batteries (either 2x 12v or 2x 6v, but that's another issue entirely) and charge them primarily from 200Ws of Solar panels.
I also want a split charge system for cloudy UK trips.
At the moment my budget is very tight so I'm looking at just going with the VSR split charge system for the time being.
Can anyone advise as to what size VSR I would need. I was under the impression that the current rating on them was what they are rated to take, not what they will draw, so for example a 100A VSR would be unsuitable for use with a 150A alternator. However I then read on here that a VSR that size would be drawing too much current from the alternator.
As you can probably tell my knowledge of 12v systems is limited.
Any advice on what size VSR would be sufficient would really be appreciate, thanks.
(I would obviously prefer a bat to bat charger but like i said money is an issue and I could just about get the solar set up for the same price)
