Diesel on alternator and serpentine belt.

Having just remedied a fuel leak coming from my HP fuel pump I am now contemplating the damage that is possible from the diesel that has leaked all over the engine. The 2 main concerns are the serpentine belt and the alternator. I dont think that the leak had been happening for that long but there has been diesel on the belt and the alternator is really gunked up but still working fine. Should i be concerned with this? Are there actions i should take? Pull the alternator and clean it? The belt looks fine at the moment. what effect with the diesel have on it? Anyway thanks for your input.

A simple solution is to spray degreeser on the belt when the engine is running, this will make a mess but will get in to the spots where the fuel has reached, after that a light spray of water from a pump bottle will clean it up. Eric

I replaced the alternator, belt and tension rollers. The diesel washes out the lubricant. Avoid future break down.
