I dunno but one of the most rugged trucks I have ever got my hands on in Chile.
Impressive and used a lot in the open cast copper mines near Antofagasta.

If I was going to run a fleet of trucks in sub Sahara Africa this would be the brand!
Engine is a dead ringer for the old Perkins V8 found in such old obsolete trucks such as the Leyland Boxer

It seems for the latest models, the engine is now supplied by Leibherr to Euro 2 spec for the Dakar/Kamaz models. Certainly the absence of the black smoke plume and the noticeable exhaust V8 warble often associated with old V8 is gone!
The tech sheet still shows V8 Kamaz engine though! Curious
Cab has changed to a more squat design as well from previous models.

In a wierd case of serendipity I end up spending some time with my those guys, mechanics and drivers and even a few short riders too, man those trucks are brutal, no drup no nothing and the cabin is so forward you can it land as the same time as the wheels

The people I meet where old ex spetnass and no wonder normal humans can not take the dayly pounding

Awesome experience and even if I’m a motorcycle guy I like the trucks the best
