Default Re: New Unity Flex

I was hoping the Flex would have some new features that other vendors are going to. A compressor fridge (Nova Kool RFU6800), MaxxFans in place of Fantastic Fans, and a Coleman Mach 8 A/C to replace the Dometic.

I have not received any confirmation that the Magnum MM1212 used for 2016 actually replaces the converter. If it did, then it would be easy to have AmSolar replace the MM1212 with an MSH3012M and 400 amp Lithium battery pack. That hybrid inverter/charger is great for helping out a generator smaller than 30 amps to run an A/C for a long time.

If the onboard generator was replaced by a second Nations alternator then one could bring along an inverter based Honda/Yamaha and the hybrid Magnum would augment it. Recharging the 400 amp Lithium pack takes less than 2 hours of driving with a dedicated Nations alternator. . All for less than the cost of a Onan diesel and without the racket. One could store a Yamaha 2400 converted to propane and store it in the generator compartment for travel.

Thanks Don. This is very helpful, but also very underwhelming. Basically a SerUnity without the rear sofa bed option. Not sure what all the fuss, or should I say, the Flex, is about if that's all they are doing.

Default Re: New Unity Flex - unofficial U24FX floor plan

Attached is the unofficial U24FX floor plan. Don’t ask me how I got it. We have had our new 2015.5 Unity CB since April (12,000+ miles), and the U24FX floor plan is a cross between the CB, Serenity and MB. The compromise for MB buyers is the large bathroom and TV in the console. Where the full size bed in CB floor plan is located now a couch with padded foot stool/coffee table is in the Flex for additional seating but does not fold down like the couch in the Serenity. If this model had been available when we ordered the CB, it might have been a fit for our needs with the walk around longer queen bed and the extra seating, since we don’t go to bed at the same time. We are fine with the smaller shower. Not much longer before we see the U24FX, but the floor plan summary as I see it is:

CB
large front closet
galley
28” TV
shirt closet/drawers
bathroom/shower
fridge
pantry

MB
68”x78” Queen bed (4” longer) probably with same dinette options. However, don’t know if it can be folded out with slide out in, since galley is a deeper counter depth than the MB TV console.

Serenity
Corner rear couch with padded footstool (but not foldable).

Exterior Storage
Don’t know about outside storage but speculating similar to the CB, which we hope will accommodate the larger CB freshwater tank 36 gallon vs. MB 30 gallon.

Wow! I think the U24FX is going to be a winner. Question - will it have the U-Lounge option like the Corner Bed model? We really like our MB U-Lounge with table vs LeisureLounge with dinette/table. The U24FX would work for us if it comes with the U-Lounge dinette option. Would love to see it in person. J&B

It also looks like they have clipped the corners of the foot of the bed to make it easier to walk around. And the TV position will be a but awkward for viewing from the bed. Overall interesting layout.

Hey, don't be showing me stuff like this! We are picking up our new MB on Friday. If I start looking at the Flex it's like going on a date with someone other than your fiancÚ the week of your wedding!

Jerry - This is great news! What is your wait time starting from date order was placed with LTV?

IMO and hopefully yours, the MB with the entertainment console and large rear bath is a winner. We are extremely happy with our choice and I'm sure you will be too after you get acquainted with your new Unity. Happy Travels....J&B

J&B,

When we ordered in late February, we were given a tentative delivery date of mid November, which has proven to be spot on. It was delivered to the dealer at 8 1/2 months and they will have it a little less than a week to prep it and do the walk through with us. Although it will be winterized at pick up, we plan to take it south at Thanksgiving to use it as an extra bedroom for us as we stay with relatives before storing for the winter when we return.

We love our U-Lounge and it probably would be an additional cost for special order like ours was. Several staff members told us at the LTV rally that the U-Lounge was still their favorite in the MB and CB models.

The flex is certainly an interesting concept, but I wouldn't give up the big bathroom of my murphy bed. It appears to be to much compartmentalizing. I'll take a look at it at the Tampa RV show in January. I am more interested in checking out the new recliner chairs, if they put those in the Flex instead of a bench seat then we might be talking. You gotta have a couple of recliners for watching TV comfortably.
