Default Actinic Keratosis

Went in yesterday for my annual at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville.

They found two troubling skin spots.

One on my temple and one on my "follicly challenged" head. They froze off both with liquid nitrogen, no followup required. Mine were scaly red spots that I had seen but figured they were just dry skin.

I was prescribed a wide brimmed hat (no more just ball caps). Just passing it along.

And make sure you do use that hat. I've had two melanomas removed from my "follicly challenged head" and one from my ear. Wide brimmed hat is necessary now for the ears. I make a visit to the dermatologist every 6 months and regularly get those pre-cancers frozen off. Believe me, better than having to use Efudex.

I have had Kerotosis frozen off a few times, on my hand, face, ears. I also wear a sun hat and put on sunscreen almost daily in the summer.
