Another use for your pad would be to put it on the mattress on a bed platform. The pad would probably need a cycling timer to allow different temperature settings.

I use a $30 rear seat 12V heating pad under my sleeping bag to stay warm at night.

I use two REI self inflating camp pads for a mattress with a sleeping bag. The heating pad is placed at the head end of the bed between the two camp pods. It was too warm on the low setting when directly under the sleeping bag. A balaclava is used to keep my head warm.
