Vanzer Pagen, yes, they are Goodyear Silent Armor kevlar belted Wranglers. The Silent Armor is the crucial designation for the kevlar belted tires.
Whether some of the claims for running cooler than steel, quieter than steel, and stronger than steel are hype or not, I don't have a clue. I do know after almost 8 years there is no sidewall checking. I have not noticed any increase in road noise the whole time, and other than me not lowering the Discount Tire pressure for this latest adventure, I have not had any failures. I have balanced and rotated them, including the spare, every other year or so, mileage or not. With the lower pressures of 50 front and 60 rear, the wear has been even across the tire. I carry 8100 without passengers in this Midwest Auto Design limo package.
I know the Michelin Defenders are highly thought of. They would be my second choice. To each his own.
I knew I would be going to Baja, and if ? a kevlar belted tire is stronger than steel and runs quieter than steel and runs cooler than steel, I wanted it, plus airing down offroad with a stronger than steel tire appealed to me. My opinion has not changed, other going from the stock 225's to the 245's next time.
