Default México ferries and overland

Hey Forum,

We are headed south in a few weeks for a kite/surf/bike adventure to Pacific side Mexico. We’ve driven to LaVentana before, but this will be the first time with a diesel and first time driving the mainland.

The plan is to cross into Baja Mexico and then ferry from La Paz to Mazatlán and hit the breaks south for a while.

I wonder if any members have current info to help with the plans?

It sounds like USLD is widely available.

Is it necessary to carry DEF?

Is there a height restriction for the La Paz ferry? (Hi roof 144 with vent and Aluminess rack.)

Thanks for the great help. I hope to be able to add to this great resource upon our return!

Carry DEF with you. I did find blue def at the San Jose Del Cabo AutoZone. You may find it in La Paz at the AutoZone there. Gas stations don’t carry it. There is a recently post on the ferry crossing with all of your questions answered. https://longlosttravelers.com/blog/2...-of-california
