I called Specialized Applications and they told me to cut into an oval grommet under the seat and push the wires up through that opening. Worked like a charm. He was gracious and very helpful, despite the fact that I purchased my step at a very large rainforest themed online retailer. Their site has lots of useful sprinter accessories I haven't seen elsewhere. http://www.specializedapplications.com

Back to finishing the install.

Wonder what they consider 'soon' to be?
I gave up waiting and bolted on fixed position steps...

I'm considering ordering the dual-step version and here's what I've got:

1. AMP P/N 76263-01A for both sides. Passenger side comes 79" and driver's at 36". List price is $1499.
2. Attached installation instructions for this newer kit. The wiring connects to a bus connector near the OBD port and not in the doors (pages 11 & 12).
3. AMP tech support says that this is listed to fit all Sprinter models regardless of options, and that they will take a return back if it doesn't. Feeling like a test guinea pig, I'm opting to buy from a local brick & mortar 4X4 service garage with service guys who have installed PowerSteps on other vehicles for better support. I have the H12 diesel-powered booster (see post #15 for pics).

Delivery time is a chicken & egg situation: AMP says they are waiting a couple weeks for parts, but I hear also that they won't build until there are orders. So the availability clock may not start ticking until there's orders. I can order mine and perhaps one order is enough to turn the cogs.

I ought to find another driver around near Boulder Colorado who has a PowerStep and crawl under theirs for a sanity check.

Has anyone installed the dual step kit yet? (75263-01A)

Will the driver side fit around the heat booster?

I ordered (a.k.a. enlisted as guinea pig) the 75263-01A on October 1st from my local 4X4 supply and have the heat booster. They said 2-3 week lead time, so I'm hoping to get them before the new year. :-) When that happens, you are more than welcome to stop by and check it out (while you help me out with the install).

Who are you using for this install? I think I want to do the same.

Thanks,
Joe

You + TheHerd + Me. I'll buy the beers and you can learn what not to do on yours. Reckon I'll do it myself unless life is just too busy (always).

A guy down the hill got his done at the regional leader in van conversions, and his PowerStep was installed about an inch too low. Pappy always said if you're going to do something, do it right.

Maybe we should all get together and help each other. I misunderstood, I thought you were using someone other then an outfitter. Yea, doing it yourself is the best option.

@ cowestwinds... you live two hours away from me, so yup that could be good! I ordered my step from John's 4X4 in Boulder, and could pay them to do the install - but it won't be terribly cheap! They're an AMP dealer and do installs on other vehicles.
