I think you may have hit on "the" tire for the rig.

Keith says I have a few more weeks to wait.

Waiting sucks. Keith is on top of it though!! He's super nice and amazing knowledge bank. So far, the tires are great, in process of setting up appt with MB Seattle to have system re-flashed for that tire size so odometer is accurate (got pulled over on Sunday on trip up to Bellingham/Galbraith Mountian for some Mtn Biking going 81 in a 70 with the cruise control on 75. He let me go on the promise I would correct spedometer ASAP). Also going to have turning lights activated.

Cheers!

I've heard conflicting reports on being able to reflash for different tires sizes. Please let us know how this turns out.
I also share curiosity about how to handle the spare. Thanks

I was told if it One of the tire sizes offered in the vehicle then It's a simple code to reset. In this case, the 255/85/16 is the same ~diameter as the 285/75/16 and that size is offered in the super single made by oberaigner so it's a simple re-flash to that diameter.

See spec sheet from Oberaigner. Note tire sizes offered for super single. I was told by Seattle MB they could re-flash to a 285/75/16.

http://www.oberaigner.com/en/product...echnical-data/

For those who have used tire sizes other than the stock or 255/85/16 Or 285/75/16 they are likely out of luck and will be left with an erroneous spedomoter. This is one of the reasons I went with 255/85/16.

I'll post up when i have it done, all a matter of time!

Cheers!

An inaccurate Speedo would be the least of my worries, the effect on torque and driving dynamics is far more important. All OK if you go into it with your eyes open.

Everyone's got an 'opinion'. If it works for you, good. If it doesnt, good too. Its all about your personal comfort level.

It's not an 'opinion' just simple maths.

It's an opinion and it's your own. Thanks for sharing. You seem fairly bent on making some point, as you've now posted that same link, which hosts nothing more than common sense, several times in this section of the forum. If YOU don't feel comfortable changing a tire.......

Again it's not my opinion, just maths and facts.

It was posted in good faith, I have no agenda apart from sharing some knowledge I didn't realize it was a double post.

I CAN CHANGE TYRES (why are we shouting?) and have oversize tyres and wheels on my G Wagen.

Anyway just as well you know all there is to know......
