Default Airstream 2020 Atlas

Has anyone purchased an Airstream Atlas? What has been your experience with quality, reliability and service? We have owned the Unity 24MB, but find the Atlas sofa and bed to be a bit more comfortable. Atlas has also kept the extra bathroom cupboard that existed in the 2015.5 Unity 24MB, and mounts the speaker bar on the TV lift rather than take some of the upper cabinet space away. Tanks have heating pads, the Mercedes remote opens the outside storage, all plugs are inverted, etc., etc. Lots of nice features. The table situation could be better....more like what's in the Pleasureway Plateau XLMB....but that seems like it can be overcome by bringing your own Foldup table in and eliminating the two small tables they provide or even having a larger table made. Any thoughts or experience with the Atlas? Thanks!

I saw One Airstream Atlas this year and was not impressed. I fact when the Atlas owners walked their dog they stopped and looked our 2014 Unity over. I think the Unity looks much better. I was in the Dayton area and decided to go take the Airstream factory tour for something to do. Part of the tour took you through the Atlas assembly line. I walked through the Atlas in the different phases of it's production line. I hated the woven flooring. I don't know how you could keep that clean or keep sand and dirt from staying in the weave. The other people touring had the same feeling and voice their concern and dislike to the tour guide for Management. I liked the Compressor electric only Refrigerator, I hate the Unity's Dometic 3 way. I like the sofa with recline/footrest, similar to Leisure's new Unity Rear Lounge floor plan. I like the extra space for the linen in the bathroom like I have in my 2014 Unity MB. I hated the smaller wardrobe and drawers as compared to my Unity. It's more steps to get in and out of the coach, hate this. Hated the dark cabinetry color. I love Leisure's choice of light and white colors. Light colors make small spaces feel more open. No auto leveling, just stabilizers like the early Leisure's. I don't like the gas stove, I would have expected to see an induction cooktop for the price. No AGM batteries, still just flooded we cells. Compared to the Unity I did not see any improvement in quality and not enough things I liked better to give up my 2014 Unity for the $80,000 price tag difference. If I where buying a New Sprinter Class C motorhome today I would still choose the Leisure Unity and upgrade the things I want i.e., compressor Refrigerator, induction cooktop, linen closet, etc. Spending around $10,000 to make it mine and then use the $70,000 I saved for my traveling expenses. Which by the way would get me through probably more than 5 years of trips and maintenance! But everyone should pick what they like best, because it definitely makes the rv travel lifestyle more enjoyable if you are traveling in something that makes you happy. IMHO, their isn't a better Sprinter based motorhome, (for quality, features, and price) on the market today than the Leisure Unity. Leisure has so many innovative floor plans to choose from and Airstream only has one!

Thanks for your response. Many really good points. There are a couple of things that are moving us toward the Atlas. One is the very comfortable reclining sofa. My husband has a bad back and the LTV MB theater chairs or the leisure lounge just aren't that comfortable to him. The bed also has the Froli system making it quite comfortable too. Additionally, the heated tanks and the under carriage storage locking with the Mercedes Remote rather than with a key everyone has. The reviews of the 2018's weren't favorable, but we've been told that the quality issues experienced in the first year of the offering have been resolved. I'm wondering if that's true and would love to hear from owners that bought the 2019 or 2020 model.
Also, I'm wondering if you have been through the LTV factory as well and if you have any insights. That might also help us with our decision. We've been through LTV, but not airstream so would appreciate any insights you might have.
THANKS AGAIN!!!

I believe the new 2020 Rear Lounge has the same type sofa, key fob locking of all doors and compartments here is the video walkthrough you might like to watch, https://youtu.be/GDpXNhhh5GM. You can request tank heaters from Leisure as an optional upgrade (they are standard for Canada buyer but Leisure will do as an option for US buyers upon request). Also several on the Unity Forum installed the Froli system, https://sprinter-source.com/forum/sh...ighlight=Froli, https://sprinter-source.com/forum/sh...ighlight=Froli, https://sprinter-source.com/forum/sh...ighlight=Froli.
It is pretty easy to do it yourself. You could save a lot of money making doing the Froli bed yourself. I actually installed Lazyboy recliners in my 2014 Unity as replacements for the incredibly uncomfortable U lounge. You should go to the Unity section and do some research or start a thread over there asking for feedback from other Unity owners who have considered the Atlas. Here are some threads on the subject, https://sprinter-source.com/forum/sh...ighlight=Atlas, https://sprinter-source.com/forum/sh...ighlight=Atlas, https://sprinter-source.com/forum/sh...ighlight=Atlas, https://sprinter-source.com/forum/sh...ighlight=Atlas.
