Default puzzled newcomer

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting a thread ,if thats the right terminolgy, also my first time owning a mb.I just bought a 2005 316cdi ex nsw ambulance.I'd like to say thanks for all the useful info; on this forum and hope I can contribute in the future. I am puzzled why there is no dipstick in the auto txmsn, just a tube with a cap.Any enlightment would be apreciated. I intend to turn the ambo into a camper so any tips would be apreciated.
regards Benda

Do a search for dipstick in the T1N section. You will find many threads covering the topic.

Hi Benda,

Benda.
Welcome to the forum. I have done 3 ambulance to camper conversions, Its a big job to get rid of all the faults that are caused by the butchered wiring, glad to help with advice, my sugestion is to bite the bullet and pull out all the trim and repair every cut in the wring loom and block of every hole that is drilled in the body, The aircon on the roof is not worth the trouble it causes so get rid of it. Eric.

Brenda,
We have an A/c on the roof of our Sprinter MH and in SA with the heat if I am doing anywork inside of the van eg installing seat belts the A/c definitely helps, but this vehicle was set up as a MH in 2007 and the A/c seems to be intregated quite well into the vehicle.

I would plan to have 2 80watt sola panels on the roof with a controller and at least 1x120ah house battery, ie if you are doing work on the inside ceiling eg some form of cladding, install the cables for a later panel install.

Hello Benda and welcome. I to have an ex ambo but it's a fair bit older being a 312D. Eric's right in saying bite the bullit and strip it out to fix the wiring up. I've been on mine for couple of weeks now on and off. When i first got it i couldn't figure out the wiring so i bit the bullet just as Eric said and now i've made up my own loom's. The wiring now go'es where i want it to and was not that hard to do.
