Underlined blue after Youtube

I've noticed that any text after a Youtube link/embedded screen gets colored blue and highlighted. I find it annoying.

A work-around is to just put a valid non-Youtube link immediately following the Youtube embedded link.
eg. - www.sprinter-source.com

That somehow breaks the underline command.

Perhaps this information will help to resolve the issue.

You can used to be able to prevent the underlining by changing the start of the YouTube address from https to http
(there's another "suggestions" thread about this)

Whoa! As the following shows, removing the "s" no longer works to 'fix' it... probably a consequence of Sikwan changing the entire forum to https

Examples: this first one has the "s" removed from (the protocol portion of) the URL:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7so8GRCWA1k

... so this subsequent text is not underlined (unless i tell it to)

Here is a video without adjusting the URL:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RICBu_P8JWI

... so this text does get underlined (as does my sig)
... until i follow your work-around by adding a link http://aie-services-2.net/Sprinter/ which seems to fix it.

This time I copied and pasted the above message and then pasted Dick's original 1st video above for video #1.

*******

I used both the Dick method and the Keith method of posting. There was a difference in the line spacing (extra return key hit) for Keith's.

Dick's way. (No extra line space.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7so8GRCWA1k

Keith's way. (Extra line space.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RICBu_P8JWI

Doesn't seem to matter now.

Maybe it was fixed??

Or maybe not. See my next test.

When i posted my YouTube links, i was very lazy. I simply put them in-line with the message *without any URL tags*
(i let the forum fill them in automagically)

So i'll try that: here is an insertion, with no blank line, WITH the URL tags:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RICBu_P8JWI

(the text appearing here seems to have no underlining issues)

Here is the same insertion, no blank line, WITHOUT the URL tags:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RICBu_P8JWI

Now a URL to "fix" the issue: https://youtu.be/RICBu_P8JWI (if it happened)

OHHHH.... the above two YouTube address both still have the https: protocol descriptor.
If i change it down to the "http:" version, the underlining bug returns: (no URL tags)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RICBu_P8JWI

Now a URL to "fix" the issue: https://youtu.be/RICBu_P8JWI (if it happened)

Here's WITH URL tags, but removing the "s" from the protocol:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RICBu_P8JWI

Now a URL to "fix" the issue: https://youtu.be/RICBu_P8JWI (if it happened)

I get the impression that the manual insertion of (at least) the trailing [ / URL is what's fixing it.
Perhaps the "automagical" embedding isn't getting the closing /URL ???
(i'll check by Editing this posting and looking for it)(see "OOHHHH" above added after that)

So the "new" behavior is: if you have "https" it will usually NOT underline the subsequent text.
If you have "http:" it WILL underline the subsequent text.
Having the [ / URL following the insertion seems to help.
There are two flavors of that... one is to use the paperclip icon... which inserts the full URL twice ... once as an argument to the URL tag (as URL="blahblahblah" ) and then once again between the closing and opening square brackets ]here[

The presence/absence of a blank line just before the video link seems to have no effect.

p.s. sikwan has been playing with it over in another thread (4.25 hours ago)

This is true. When we migrated to https, I changed the code to reflect that. However, every "old" post that contained the http (without the s) fix will underline everything afterwards.

Since youtube will always now be https, we should not be posting any youtube links with http.

So what is the tag for embedding a video? Don’t see it on the menu.
To quasi-translate Sik's answer:

If you want the "player" and video splash image to appear, just insert the YouTube(.com) address.
No tags or mark-up needed.

IF you do NOT want the embedded player and splash, then use the youtu.be construct.
(again, no tags needed as you're typing, but the forum will add the URL tags automatically)
