2007 OEM Spec's for Mercedes /Dodge/Sprinter

Altered Sprinter

Mercedes-Benz
V6

In designing our new engines, we didn't leave anything behind.
Except the competition.
The commercial world is getting faster. That's why the new Sprinter is not just up to speed. it helps keep you in front. An impressive engine line-up has always been part of the Sprinter success story-a story- that's set to continue more powerfully than ever.
===================
The all new-Sprinter is available with a choice of advanced Mercedes-Benz CDI engines in four power categories.
Offering innovative features, such as Piezo injection and in some versions, two-stage turbocharging, the engines that power the new Sprinter already met Euro4 specifications.
Advanced CDI engine technology balances the many needs of the modern commercial van driver.
Increased torque, smoothness, economy, pulling power and reliability and are all delivered when and where you need it most, across the range of Mercedes-Benz powerplants.
The advantages of the CDI or common rail' injection system are many and are a result of continuous development by Mercedes-Benz engineers.
Because the fuel is atomized so finely, the engines are able to deliver better combustion, lower emissions, more torque and power and reduced fuel consumption.
For today's van driver, who needs to keep an eye on the bottom line at all times, this can represent significant savings, especially over longer periods of ownership.
As with previous models we have chosen to the tried-and-tested rear wheel drive to deliver traction, handling and safe load management.
Whichever engine you choose, for whichever Sprinter model, the task of putting power down on the road as effectively as possible, is taken care of by the standard 6-speed manual transmission, not available on the CDI engine model).
Or if you prefer, an automatic transmission is available across the Sprinter range.
Powerful and efficient diesel engines, that's the next big thing from Mercedes-Benz.

Mercedes-Benz Technical Data
Sprinter van

Five tonne units have the same engine specifications as to the three t units
with the exception of three leaf spring configuration and the new optional mid year single extra wide wheel at the rear to allow for a pallet to slide in from the rear.
The New V6 and the small 4-in-line units share a common ECG head design , however that is where the common differences stop the new V6 is an older unit from the Mercedes family of engines, but with a total redesign in the engine itself from the new heavy duty block, to to the new reinforced and hardened pistons and valves, injectors etc, an all new alloy crankshaft and harmonic balancer this engine has been designed By Mercedes to take alternative fuels up to B20 without any adverse effect on it's operating capacity.
Note This has not been officially stated to run B20 as of yet.
An interesting note from DEW Germany: stop.
All fuels are now to run on with the mix of ethanol Fuel companies have increased prices to off-set the price increase of incurred costings to produce such fuels as they cost more to produce than a standard petro-based product.
VAT has also risen an extra three percent eg,(Sales Tax)
It would appear this is a world-wide trend to off-set rising prices in fuels controlled by OPEC
Advantages to the New Mercedes Engines will prove to be more cost effective in the Diesel's range as prices continue to spike up within the next decade as peak oil reaches it's peak for production 2030:thumbdown:
As the new Diesel arrives in the U.S in May 2007 there will be also a mid year change in specifications to the particulate exhaust systems along with many other refinements for the following six months
All wheel drive will become a another standard feature on the new Future generations of Sprinters.
A few new Pictures on the engine of the Mercedes V6 Gasoline Engine

Authors note: part of the myth and facts at this moment are over the Emission controls on the Mercedes Sprinter ?Dodge /Freightliner
To reinforce what I have already said the Mercedes is compliant to both Euro 4 and Five for the over five tonne units
Richard
The engine shown is the petrol engine V6
including the type of particulate exhaust sensors it's from the CL350 series

Notice: the turbo filter is now central.. Right side cabin filter, now runs a eight micron set into the hood when closed, filtered for cleaner air, sorry for the poor quality shot used an older camera as my bat was flat
PS: Don't get the millage figures for the Vito mixed up with the Sprinter as the vito has a lower HP rating and higher fuel consumption, the Sprinter averages 10 liters per hundred K's covered about 60 miles
