Default Re: Alternator Rebuild

Guys
If your alternator has been installed on a van used where magnesium chloride is used extensively (like Colorado) be aware. There is a propensity to get road wheel spray into the machine causing extensive corrosion resistance to the rectifier eyelets/casing and seriously reducing charge performance before the unit eventually goes down.

We have seen three units this year (2003 to 2004 models) where charge output was seriously down. A teardown and cleaning of the regulator connectors etc corrected the issues without further parts expenditure.
