Hello businessgypsy -

Looks like he simply places it on the ground by his sliding door to give folks a mat to wipe their feed on before entering via the sliding door.

Hi Lepapehermann, interesting spot for the mat. We have ours rolled up and tucked into the spot where you have something red (a tool box maybe?).

What are the "peel off hooks"?

Yes, the red ''thing'' is a small toolbox that I built to perfectly fit in that empty space. See https://sprinter-source.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8974
