I have a new 2007 Sprinter with the Great West conversion with 6500 miles to date. I notice a generous carbon deposit on the alu rims from time to time. I am wondering if long time owners could tell me what I might expect in brake wear, stopping this 8000lb vehicle and should I replace with same pads or look for other ones. I could not be happier with this vehicle - averaging 19.4 miles per gallon, with this weight.

Not Suitable w/220v Gen
At 10,000 miles, I'd lost 10% of my front pads.
At 20,000 miles, I'd lost another 10% of my front pads.
Those two data points don't amount to much in my mind - and I wouldn't expect to go 75 or 80 thousand miles on 'em - but this is my brake wear today, carrying a nominal 6,200 lbs (or something pretty close to it).
Maybe an RVer will chime in to give you more applicable info.

I'm soon to report an astounding service life from a set of discs - I just need to check back in my records to see exactly what the mileages are etc.
