So now I'm having an issue with the engine shutting off while driving. The dash will go dark, sometimes light back up and engine restarts before I can pull over, sometime not. When it does "bump start" itself I'll have a the wheel slip lights on. Pull over, restart all is good.
Sometimes I have to try several times (cycling the key) to get the dash to light up and allow engine to turn over and start.
Sometimes it'll light up with the key but glow plug light never goes out, so will not turn over.
Sometimes it'll start in park, then shut down immediately when brake pedal is pressed. (Did the zip tie trick to separate the metal pieces about 5k ago too, seems to be holding....? Kept blowing fuses on the brake lights. Not having that issue now.
I've had codes;
Implausible data from cluster
Lost communication with cluster
Maybe lose connector from replacement cluster during recall?
Van runs great otherwise!
Seems to me that something is grounding out and causing problems. I just cant find it.
I've searched for chaffing on all the wires in the engine bay, under the dash etc.
I've read about the fuse block 1 on the steering column can be cracked and people have issues, could this be it? Doesn't appear to be cracked.
Could it be brake light metal grids?
Open to suggestions.
Thanks.
