Guys,
Did the search. No luck.

I need an easy source for switched power not under the seat.
My seat removes only with difficulty.
But I'll go there if I have to?

Is the brake light switch a source, seems like I remember a thread about that.

I need to power my trans oil temp sensor.
Could run it always on and have ambient once it cools.
TIA.

Your datacard says you have it: EK1 TERMINAL STRIP FOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
(your VIN's last 4 digits are 3866 , correct?)

Do you have these two rivets?

They're holding the terminal strip with the 3 connections

---------------------
Do you have the fuse list for your driver's seat-side fuse panel?

The terminal strip's fuses are listed as:
13 25 body manufacturer, term 30
14 15 body manufacturer, term 15
15 10 body manufacturer, term D+

(the 13,14,15 are my Sprinter's placement for them. The 25,15,10 are the fuse sizes)

p.s. i'm looking up the answers to your other questions....

Yes, the brake light switch is fed (from Fuse Block 1 under the steering wheel) by an ignition-switched fuse.

See page 8w-35-3 in the 2003 service manual: http://www.diysprinter.co.uk/reference/2003SprinterManuals.zip

.. but i really don't advise using that circuit (talk about "mission critical"), since it also connects to the shifter (etc) to tell them you're stopping.

Lemme do more homework (to find a "better" fuse block 1 source)

In Fuse block #1 the following fuses are ignition-switched:
4 10amp reverse lamp, shifter
5 10amp brake lights, OBD pin 8
6 20amp wiper motor --- brought out to Connector 3, pin 2 (to wiper motor)
7 15amp horn/air recirc solenoid valve/tranny/SKREEM/MAF, rear window defogger switch

18 15amp ignition. (air bags, instrument cluster, optional equipment relay)

my cigarette lighter and glove box light are both switched power
In the US/Canada T1Ns, both the 12v outlet on the dash and the Cigar Lighter in the center console's ash tray are live all the time ... not switched power.

--dick (i don't think i have a glove box light)((i don't sit on that side))

dick,
Got the rivets.
Then on the other side of the rivets, you'll find this:

... you've got 'em

p.s. and i may well have mis-interpreted your "I need an easy source for switched power not under the seat." to mean you couldn't find the terminals under the seat,
instead of your (today it's obvious) wish to find a connection *elsewhere* than under the seat.

Hey dick,
No problem at all. I'm gonna get after the seat tomorrow and get to the 'bottom' of it.
Your picture and diagram is perfect. My magic marker will be out.

In the meantime I went after the radio power...red/black (+), brown(-).
Jailbroke the wires and nice switched fused power there under the dash.
