I need to purchase a set of summer and winter tires.

I am having a hard time finding 195/70R15s.

Where do you purchase yours from?

Thanks!

Take a look on Craigslist for near-new take off tires. Sometimes people want to get something "fancy" and dump the tires that came on their van with only a few hundred miles on them. With luck, you'll get them on the original rims, too.

Unfortunately, with a load index of 104/102 (1984 (or 1874) lbs each), their total (4 wheels) capacity doesn't even reach the Sprinter's 8550 GVW.

Still, they are an answer for our hard-to-find demands....

Thanks for posting that! I learned another lesson. This van is for work and I'll have a lot of tools in the back.

Bump.

Where to purchase 195R70/15 tires???

It is about the load rating. You might get away with a better non LT tire if it stills makes weight, and that will be less expensive. LT 15” tires are rare and expensive around my parts, even used. I ran good non LT (or Cargo) 15”s on my Transporter for years, but they were rated at 55psi and max weight was above my vehicle. Important to remember GVW is probably more than your actual weight(I hope!). Load it up and hit a weigh station (or a scrap yard) then you will have a starting point.

You can get nokian rotiva ats for about $100 a pop from Walmart.com. I’m about to order some in 235/75/15 which is a little oversized but they fit. They are E load rated and are a 40000 mile tire.

simpletire.com has a 10% off promo right now, free shipping. They do have some 8-ply options but like the previous poster explained - 104/102 load rating may not be sufficient for you.

Yeah, I'm having trouble finding anything other than 104/102. I think I need 112 (2469lbs.) to cover the 9990 max load.

What were the OEM tires on a 2005 3500 dually?

What's the load index of the OEM tires?

112LR is more than u need with 6 tires, unless most of the weight will be at the front. The OEM tires on a 2005 3500 are printed on your driver's seat cover or door. 195/70R15D I think. Many have gone to a larger diameter tire to reduce RPMs on hwys, LT 7R15 or 7.00R15 is like a LT215/80R15D and fit 6 tire spots, lots of info in this thread link https://sprinter-source.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10388&highlight=7r15

The 3500 had two OEM tire sizes:
For the 15 inch wheel, they were the 195/70 R 15 C 104/102 R <<-- 104s!!!
Front axle maximum load: 3,858 lbs (1,750 kg)
Rear axle max load: 7,054 lbs (3,200 kg)

For the 16 inch wheel, they were the LT225/75 R 16 115/112
(same maximum loads)

(the 2500's numbers were 225/70 R 15 C 115 N and LT225/75 R 16 115 N
front max load: 3,858 lbs (1,750 kg)
rear max load: 5,357 lbs (2,430 kg)
I'm pretty sure my 2500's 15 inch tires are load range D

Ugh! That's right. I forgot I bought a 6 wheeler. So the 104/102 indexed tires should work.
