Hello everybody
Been a while, which is good I guess cause haven't been having van problems
Life is a different story, so been pretty busy being retirement didn't work out as planned.
So here is my problem. Coming out of the VA Medical Center where I volunteer I noticed a fairly large fuel stain under my van.
Popped the hood but couldn't determine the cause.
On the way home it seemed that I was watching my fuel gauge go down.
I removed the injector cover and noticed a white vapor seeming to be pumping out from around #1 front injector. The vapor wasn't hot, and there wasn't the tapping noise like the back #5 one I had just the beginnings of Black Death.
No evidence of Black Death.
This wouldn't account for how much my fuel gauge went down.
I crawled underneath with the engine running and noticed fuel constantly running out of the vent hose that comes from the upper back of the engine.
I tried breaking the #1 front hold down bolt, but it was too tight
so I started the engine and ran it until I was up to operating temperature
and she broke free pretty as can be.
I removed the hold down hardware and threw a towel over the injector
and drove down the road in-front of the house and heard it pop in-front of the neighbors'.
Turned around and pulled back into the driveway and popped the hood
removed the fuel line and plug and pulled out the injector
used a small test tube brush to retrieve the copper seal.
So I have the new hold down bolt, and Copper seal
Plan on throwing it in tomorrow
Could I ask for the torque if someone knows it off the top of their head?
Now the big question is
should this fix the fuel leaking out of the vent hose if I fix the injector?
If not what should I check next?
Thanks for the help
hope everyone has a Blessed Summer
