Help me out you smart transmission guys (gals too)

On the first run of the day, my 2011 Sprinter LTV RV wants shift through all 5 gears as fast as it can even though I'm not yet at 20mph. Drive a half a mile down the road, shut er down, crank er up, and all is normal. HELP!! I don't want to get ripped my MB dealer yet again. Thanks,
Mick

mcmiller,
Are you following the full "cold soaked" start up protocols?
I.E.
1/ Turn the key to Position 2 (where all the lights in the dash console light up).
2/ Wait until you see the glow plug filament symbol go out.
3/ Turn the key to Position 3 to engage the starter and start the engine.
4/ Release the key.
5/ Put the gear shift into "D" for Drive.
6/ Drive away as soon as possible.....do not let the engine idle to "warm it up"
(because it really won't warm up much beyond 100 deg. f at idle and that will take
a very long time.)
If you are following the above protocol, there may be something amiss in the Trans. Control
Module (TCM) or the overall programming.
What you describe is not normal cold start Sprinter V6/5speed operation.
You could manually shift it if you are really worried about it.
After 1/2 mile, what temperature is your ScanGauge II reading.
Mine gets to ~ 100 deg. F in 1/2 mile with a slight uphill run.
In 1.1 miles it's up to ~140-140 deg. F.
Depends a lot on the ambient temperature and how "cold soaked" your engine and
transmission is.
What does your temp readout (in the dash) read when you are trying to start from
cold soaked in the AM.

Spark Plugs not allowed!
It sound to me like it was in Limp Home Mode for whatever reason. Than when you shut it down it cleared up and all was normal.

I agree, sounds like a low level LHM event. A decent scanner can read any stored codes which would likely point you in the right direction.
