As the title states, I finally got under the plastic door sills on the passenger and drivers side and yikes... I looked around a bit underneath and didn't see any rust but I'm now realizing that the rust doesn't seem to care if theres underbody rubberized coating or not, it's still going to form and the underbody is going to look clean. Scary... Next time the poke test will be utilized.
Both sides are super soft, your foot would go right through if it weren't for the plastic step guard. Are there replacement panels to be found? It seems a little big for fiberglass and / or bondo. I was hoping to be able to slap some POR15 on it and bondo over the weak spots but it seems a little excessive. I'm not a body repair guy by any means at all, any solutions?
I searched for t1n door sill panels with no luck, I'd ideally like to buy those sills if they're available and have my buddy weld them in. What do you think?
Are there places to buy replacement panels? Side note, I haven't figured out how to get under the *sliding door* plastic sill but I would imagine that is the same.
