broken top dash storage bin

today i went to close my storage bin on top the dash and the hinge that holds the door to the base snapped off. appears to be a very small plastic barrel and pin assembly.

it doesn't appear to be anything that is repairable without changing the entire door and bin assembly.

this on a 2008 $45,000 van that's 4 months old.

all i store there is paper for my printer. the springs are very heavy and appears that they are too strong for the door hinge assembly.

any ideas or do i go to the dealer and ask for free replacement?

i can post a photo if need be.

does anyone know what's involved to remove the door and storage bin. i don't think it's repairable without a complete unit?

I spent a solo half hour in a new NCV3 in lot in Phoenix recently, trying to decided between T1N or NCV3.
The door to the storage bin on the zero-miles vehicle I was exploring was similarly broken.

I thought to myself: "Just like a jewel-box hinge. Bad design".
