SRS Light - Dealer wants $1000 to Fix

So my SRS light came on a few months back while I was engaging my seat belt. I finally, had time to take it into the MB dealer in San Francisco. Diagnosis charge was a flat rate of $200. It appears my seat belt harness has a cut and it will cost me an additional $1000 to fix. Has anyone had this issue and must I have it corrected by the dealer? Is there a round about fix for this? I'm able to buckle the seat and it hasn't been an issue.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.
