Loss of power steering plus battery light on?

Hello all,

Just got a new to me 06 T1N with 268.5k on it. Solid 3 hour drive back following a 1.5 hour test drive with no issues and as soon as I start it up having left the DMV with the new tags the battery light is on and I've lost power steering.

This happens twice. the first time I drive 5~ minutes without power steering+battery light on and then the light shuts off and I have power street back.

The second time it takes about 10 minutes for the batter light to turn off and the power steering to return.

It's pretty cold where I am and got colder through the evening. Starts up just fine in the cold temps.

All other electrical features seem to be working fine( radio, lights, door locks)

Any insight?

I would check your belt and tensioners condition!

Cold weather? Your water pump freezes. Stopping the serpentine belt. Causing your symptoms.
Shouldn't be water in the radiator, just antifreeze.
