POR 15 Rust Proofing Cargo Area

First time poster, been lurking the forums for a few months now.

I finished removing some of the rust in the cargo area (mostly over the wheel wells), and am looking to paint the whole cargo floor of a 144. Does anyone have experience applying POR 15? Should I use brushes or a roller? Also, any idea on how many quarts I'll need?

Thanks for your help :)

We painted a single coat of POR15 onto the cargo area floor of a 170. We used disposable 1.5" brushes because of the ridges (roller wouldn't get into the base of the corrugations). IIRC it took about half of a quart container. There's no point in using good quality brushes. The paint levels itself well, removing any brush marks. Not that you'll care on the cargo floor.

WARNING: Like it says on the tin, do not put the lid back on when you're done. It will never come off again. Instead, pour the remainder into a glass jar with a well sealing lid, or buy an empty paint tin (automotive paint stores stock these). Make sure absolutely no paint gets left on the rim of the new container. Also, if the paint dries on your skin, it's on there for good. Wear gloves.

Clean up is possible before it dries using either alcohol or a solvent of your choice.

The stuff is good. We used the remainder to prime the holes we drilled for rivnuts, etc. We used cotton buds to apply it. It ended up solidifying in the glass jar after a while.

Thanks for all of the good info Diesel! Did you guys prep the floor with anything special before you applied. The Por15 Technical data sheet says it doesn't stick well to smooth painted surfaces... curious your experience with it.

The van floor is not exactly a smooth painted surface! We did take the gloss off with some 120 grit paper, but it didn't take much rubbing.
