They are called Safety View by Peak & I installed one yesterday on my van. What a nice setup! A 7" color monitor, a wide angle camera & a separate transmitter that plugs into the camera & the power source. It also has A/V connections & volume control. The night vision is great!
I have the camera installed on my license plate & have wired to my plate lights (that way I can use it anytime that the van is running or I can switch the lights on manually to monitor with my camera with the engine off.
After three VR1 backup cameras, I was ready for a really nice backup camera/ monitor. I just didn't expect to get it so inexpensively.

No Baker,
Same manufacturer I think, but a different product. The one at Sam's has a 7" LCD screen with more controls, plus it is A/V ready.
Here it is on Ebay for alot more $:

I was just looking at that yesterday at Sam's. The monitor looks nice but I wouldn't want the camera mounted on the license plate bracket. I would modify it to work from the high stop light instead.

It does pay to shop around before buying anything, however. Just because something is sold on eBay or is said to be a "low price" doesn't mean it really is, does it!

I know that you can plug A/V into the lcd & watch a video, but do you think that I could plug my cell phone into it for a monitor when I use the mobile internet?

Installing this camera wasn't very difficult, after I figured out what my ground was on the reverse lights. I also chopped off the mirror and modified it to hold the LCD screen bracket. A great purchase for $99!

FYI, f you want to hook up the camera to your reverse, the solid brown is the ground and the blue/white is the hot.

How well does it work in the dark ?

Does it incorporate IR LEDs to provide lighting at night?

How well due the Sprinter back-up lights work at lighting up the view from the monitor?

Night vision is good. I have led bulbs instead of the oem bulbs for my license plate & they seem to be bright enough to provide light for the camera at night. I don't think that the camera has IR LEDs?

I haven't driven at night since installing the cam, so I jumped in the van to see how things looked. Seems like I got my $99 worth.

Aloha from Oahu! This is my first post and I am very new to the sprinter game. We just got our brand new 2008 Sprinter Yesterday. We also went out and got one of the very same camera units from Sam's Club.

My question is....Do you have to drill a hole? I am not super handy with power tools and don't want to spend the $100 quoted for installation. Everyone said that it would be so easy....perhaps not for EVERYONE. http://sprinter-source.com/forum/images/smilies/thinking.gift Help please.
