ncv3 engine swap on 2008

Considering buying an 08 sprinter with a blown engine. I do not really like the mpg claims on this year and was curious if a newer 4cl diesel engine from a 2014 can be swapped into it. I realize it would probably involve replacing the tranny and ecu as well. Is this even possible or is it just wishful thinking?

Many of the various modules are coded to each other. So ideally you would need to complete donor vehicle to make this happen with minimal headache. The other issue youre gonna run in too is that the harnesses are made specifically for each vehicle so you'll probably end up transferring a good portion of the engine and main harness from the donor vehicle.

The nightmare situation is when you run into a coding issue that can only be resolved by the dealer level scan tool. Most dealers would not be willing to help you with a swap like this so that could be a serious problem. Otherwise where there's a will there's a way.

Ended up buying an 2003. Running but with a few problems.
