Beeeeep vs beep-beep

My question falls into the "what does it really matter" category. Even so, it has piqued my curiosity.

When I first picked up my 2006 3500 cargo van in June it would sound a continuous Beeeep when in reverse. Just today it started doing the beep-beep-beep that we normally associate with such vehicles when they're being backed up. Is the beeping controlled by a relay (or what) and does anyone know where the controlling unit would be found?

Thanks!

As nobody else has chimed in (pun intended), I'm 99.99% certain the beep timing is integral with the plug in backup alarm unit. It just needs 12V. from the back up lights to get it beeping. Hope this helps.

Thanks! When the weather warms up I'll have to crawl under and take a look at the beeper. If it quits maybe I can get something from a novelty store that makes laughing noises or something :)

Happy new year!
