I'm curious if this is available and I just don't know the correct places to search? It looks like the unimog bed that allows for any or all of the sides to be dropped?

Mornin' James -

Currently you can get the Cab Chassis in the US (http://www.dodge.com/sprinter/configurations.html) but not the pickup (http://www.mercedes-benz.de/content/germany/mpc/mpc_germany_website/de/home_mpc/vans/home/products/nya_transportbilar/New_Sprinter/flatbed_truck.html).

You are correct that 3 walls of the bed drop down in the pickup (at least I know this is an option). This is a great design for loading and unloading - I have a '66 VW Double Cab pickup. When I show up at a hardware yard to pick up something big and heavy the guy riding the forklift is usually laughing at my Double Cab until I drop the side gates at which point he is suddenly quite impressed by the vehicle as he drives his forklift right up next to the truck and drops a pallet of materials right on.

I am hoping that we can continue to flesh out the Sprinter-Wiki (http://www.sprinter-source.com/wiki/index.php?title=Varieties) so this info will be even more readily available to all. Anyone can both view and update the Sprinter-Wiki so if you have an interest concering a specific aspect of Sprinters please feel free to get some more info entered in!

Thank you Zach,

Just a few days ago I was passed by a cab chassis with some sort of bed on it, not the 3 way but a standard bed none the less. I've had no luck locating one and was hopeful the utility was an option somewhere. They are still sold and sometimes available for the Unimog crowd and I wonder about cross fitments here...

I really wish the double cab was available with the utility bed but realize it may be asking a bit much. This would be my ideal:
