View Full Version : Reverse lights - Bad connection somewhere

Hi,

The reverse lights on our 2008 have stopped working for the most part. When the van is put into reverse, the lights will only occasionally flash on, and I do mean flash. They won't stay on for any longer than about 0.2 seconds. This is consistent with both the driver and passenger side.

I read on another thread here that the wires from the left and right tail lights all come together somewhere in the driver side footwell. From there I am unclear on where the signal comes from. Is there actually a switch in the gearshift assembly? Or would the 12 volts originate from a relay somewhere, or the computer? This parts diagram (http://www.moparpartsoverstock.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=917074&ukey_make=1095&ukey_model=15977&modelYear=2008&ukey_category=22704&ukey_driveLine=9224&ukey_trimLevel=20380) shows two wiring harnesses to the gearshift, but no switch. It would suck to have to buy the whole shifter.

Another suggestion I read here has to do with corroded relays in the trailer wiring harness. This sprinter has no such harness that I can find.

Any brilliant ideas?

Hey, I'm having the same issue! Any updates on what went wrong with yours?

There is a 2007 wiring diagram (close enuf for you...) here: http://diysprinter.co.uk/reference/07_Wiring-sprinter-2500.pdf
(and lots more stuff at http://diysprinter.co.uk/reference/ too... snoop around)
