View Full Version : Good place to grab 12v accessory power??

We are trying to wire a new horn for me to use separate of the stock system. We are wanting to use a corolla horn we got at a junkyard. Just wondering where is a good place to grab 12 accessory power on the T1N? We would prefer to not use full time power from the battery in case the horn is accidentally hit.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

You didn't mention the year and model, but since it is posted here you should have a T1N. You best bet will be fuse block #2 located under the driver's seat.

There should be a terminal under the driver seat with battery, switched, and ignition power. Try to avoid dicking around in the fuse block on a CAN bus vehicle.

You can add a relay that is engaged from power under the drivers seat - pull the 12 Volts from the Battery (and do not tap off of any power source in the Sprinter - you are asking for major problems if you do). Pull an 8 or 6 guage wire from the battery to the relay and take your Aux power from there. This wire will be around 8 feet long and one end will connect to the tap off the battery (add a fuse - you'll see a place for it when you left the tap cover, at the battery, off), and the other end will be under your Drivers seat (pulled thru the rubber access sleeve). 8 guage wire is good for 50 to 60 amps, 6 gauge is good for 80 to 90 amps, get a 12 volt relay that supports at least 100 amps.

Use the Body Manufacturer Terminals under the driver seat. I couldn't find a picture, but I did find some discussion as to use and location.
