Wheel Liner Install

My new RV came with 4X Dicor FlatLiner wheel simulators (aka stainless steel wheel liners).

I successfully removed one of these on a rear outside wheel. It uses several triangular steel spring loaded tabs around the circumference as the attachment method.

After many unsuccessful attempts, I have been unable to reinstall this liner. I have removed and installed maybe hundreds of 'hub caps' in my time, but this one has me beat

Any advice on how to install/reinstall these things? Special tool, lube or procedure? Dicor's customer service said to just 'tap it in'. Right!:shifty:

The only time I had an issue was when I didn't line up the liner with the valve stem opening. The odd time I had a hard time getting them I used a rubber mallet.
