I posted this question in the wrong spot
Drove home from work everything fine
backed into the driveway, everything AOK
It was a little cold in FL,
but I drove through winter conditions last year.
Next morning on the way to National Guard
I start up and as soon as I step on the throttle to pull out
There is a new loud blower type of noise
I thought maybe turbo plumbing,
but everything is the same as it has been on my scangage,
No LHM 30 miles of highway driving there and back
LOD, BST, MPG, RPM, eng temps, every reading normal.
I have the resonator straight pipe had for a couple years,
and if it were plumbing I would think I would see something abnormal on the scangage.
At idle RPM below 1500 no sound, but as soon as I rev her up to 2000 and higher I hear it
Could the fan clutch be slipping or locked up?
In the Army HMMWV when the fan kicks in it makes that kind of noise
Can I drive it that way, if I don't see anything significant
or do I risk throwing a fan through the radiator?
I have to make a 2 hour trip next week, so looking for ideas.
Planning on having my wife rev it while I listen to try to pinpoint it.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
