Inner Tie Rod End, Left Front

Brought my van in for a DEF heater and state inspection on Monday.
DEF heater went well and was replaced under warranty.
Van failed inspection for a bad inner tie rod end left side.
This was really surprising to me, van is a 2011 with only 47,000 miles.
For a commercial vehicle that does not seem right. Van is very well taken
care of and is only driven on decent paved roads. My old 2004 Sprinter
never needed the tie rods replaced and that had around 100,000 miles on it
when I bought this one and was 8 years old not 3. Has any one else had this
happen this early in there vans life?

My tech told me I had quiet a bit of play in my passenger side tie rod. My Sprinter is a 2011 motorhome chassis with 107000 miles. I've hit some nasty rumble strips at construction sites several times. I'll have the tie rods replaced next spring. I think I'll do front struts also.

I have 2008 and I it had mine replaced in less than 36k miles (replaced under warranty)

I replace one on a 2008 with 60K - then found it also needed a new Rack and Pinion - they are under built. Customer said he had been fighting that "click" through seven different repair shops including four dealers.

I had to replace my rack & pinion when I was around 60k .... but I was procrastinating on it for another 25k :smirk:
