help with new Bosch 150 A alternator

I decided to upgrade to a 150 amp Bosch alternator. I installed it and before I slid the serp belt back on, I discovered that the pulley didn't spin- at all. It appears to be locked up.
What am I missing? I have it removed now and I'm puzzled.

Never mind...I'm the idiot. I forgot that I dropped it before install. After looking closely, I saw the crack in the housing.
Now another question...Can I take it apart and install the new guts into my old alternator housing? Or does anyone know a reman place who could do this for me?
Otherwise I just wasted $200

Alternators aren't generally that tough to disassemble. Getting the clutch pulley off will likely be the biggest challenge. There's a thread around here with tips for that. I believe one guy suggested using an impact gun with short bursts.

I'd take it apart and visually inspect the parts. They should swap over 150 amp to 150 amp. Frame sizes do vary between amp ratings though.

Thanks Vic.
I was afraid that the case sizes were different from the 90 to 150 amp.
Plan B I guess
If the bearings and mechanicals on the 90 amp are ok it would be worth exploring whether the voltage regulator and brush assemblies can be swapped in from the 150 amp. Those parts are often the same through a range of outputs.

A search for the regulator and brush part numbers should give a clue.

I suspect that the clutch pulley is the same between them too.

Edit:
The regulator looks physically similar 90 to 150 amp, but the BMW listing of 90 - 120 amp Bosch is not encouraging.
